Moving...moved.

Well...the truck is loaded and God willing most of it will arrive in one piece sometime this week. I must say that we did pretty well. The truck came early on Thursday and so the wife and I decided to go ahead and start loading it on our own until the help arrived that evening. We got about 25%-30% of it loaded, but we lost about 50% of our body weight in sweat--I think that was a fair trade. I want to thank all those who showed up to help--we truly could not have done it without you. We are really going to miss 'most' of you! It really meant a lot to have all of you descend on our humble apartment and help out with everything from the kids to cleaning. I think my wife was most touched and always finds it emotionally difficult to leave a place with such great friends.

Now--as for the rest of you, I hope to see you at our new home in NC this Friday to help unload. The most difficult part is over--especially since our new apartment is slightly larger than the interior of the truck and should be easy to fit all of our stuff in--at least initially when it doesn't matter where the stuff goes as long as it's inside. I'll let you know how that goes.

Moving Day

Initially this post was going to be a full-on rant about a certain testing company and how my scores for an important licensure exam were inadvertently cancelled due to an obscurely worded policy about when and how to exit the examination room...but alas, if I am to ever be employed by said company in the future I shall suffice it to say that one can only come closer to approximating a more true score the more often one takes a test.

Moving day is nearly upon us-this weekend to be exact. As many of you know, we are making the move back to the piedmont where I will begin my year-long internship as a school psychologist. Yeah, that's right--this is big-time responsibility. Time to put away the toys...or at least pretend you only vaguely know what an xbox 360 is and state that you've never actually used a P2P when your student's ask...

That's a good enough update for now. I will be staying behind to "bring home" the metaphorical bacon whilst my wife and kids set-up house in NC--at least until August.

BTW the link at the top is for ABF, the moving company we are using. They basically drop-off a tractor-trailer and you fill it, then they drop it off at your destination. No driving, no gas, no-problem.

Hunting Jobs and Houses

I just wanted to keep the momentum and add an entry before more than a week had passed. I (we) just returned from (almost) a week in NC looking for places to live and interviewing. The two interviews went fine--one school system wanted to hire me, but was a bit too small and was not able to provide the additional training I would need to fulfill my program's internship requirements. The other interview went well and I was offered the position a few days later. I am still a little hesitant to break out the champagne, but it looks to be certain (sounds like a quote from a Magic 8-ball).

In addition, we also found a nice new apartment complex to move into (renting a house would have been preferred, but these are more far and few between than one might think--at least of any significant quality). We'll be making the move at the end of June. I'll probably come back to Alabama to work for a few weeks as I don't start my new job until the school year starts in August. Should be interesting.

I'm back...not that I ever really went anywhere.

Ok--so significant changes are about to take place and since I have completed the 'class attendance' portion of my academic career and am about to embark on a new stage--I thought I would revive my blog and really start cranking out the posts (translation~more than once every 3 months!).

In lieu of wallowing in the "why?" of why I have not made a post since the Kennedy administration (John F. not Jamie), I will dive headlong into where I am at--so as to bring those few (very few-you know who you are) loyal readers up to speed. I (we--for there is a 'better' half, much better) have been in school for some time. I graduated about six years ago with an undergrad in Psychology from UNC-Chapel Hill and then worked for a researcher at Duke University conducting neuropsychological test on patients with Schizophrenia, then worked at a mental health clinic in Salt Lake City on the same research--meanwhile applying to and failing to be accepted into a number of prestigious graduate programs in clinical psychology. I eventually began my graduate work in School Psychology at a university in Alabama in the fall of 2002. I have come to the conclusion of my course work for a PhD in School Psychology and am now preparing to move to North Carolina and complete my first year of work, which will also serve as a year-long internship and will also, hopefully allow me to finish that pesky writing assignment called the dissertation.

I'll let you know how it goes...

Movies, Movies, Movies

MOVIES

This [LINK] is MSN's guide to a couple of the best DVD Director's Cuts and a couple of the worst. The facts about the edits are more interesting than the fact that it is a good cut or not--Time for Fitz to put in his Christmas wish list.

This [LINK] is a list of Movie Cliches...I guess like when the villain meets his end at the hand of his own creation.

And finally...a leaked trailer for Pirates of the Carribean: Part Deux.
